Our snuggly soft beds ensure deeply refreshed mornings and during winter the cosy fireplaces and electric blankets transform the chilly evenings into dreamy wonderland. The indoor Lapa recreational area with its state-of-the-art braai, gas stove, full package DStv and Wi-fi is perfect for those cheerful get-togethers, while the well-equipped, large farm kitchen with its electric and aga stoves make self-catering a pleasure and ensures a warm and homely atmosphere around the kitchen table.

Fairbairn Guest Farm is the ideal place to simply relax, unwind and recharge the batteries. The Farm House has a lovely “stoep” where one is greeted by the morning sunrise, sit and watch the day go by whilst enjoying the soothing songs of the splendid bird life. Stroll through the countryside and be amazed by all its little surprises. The Guest Farm and surrounding area offers many awesome activities to explore for those who live for adventure and the naturalist at heart. A few of these include hiking up Fairbairn Kop with its smattering of San rock art, kaleidoscope of flora and insect life and vast vistas of the Maloti mountains and foothills; visits to neighbouring territories – with their indigenous rain forests, trout-rich rivers and waterfalls and edible mushroom-hunting in the pine forests during the rainy season (October-March) is a must. Only a few kilometres out of town towards Tsitsanna are the tumultuous Tsitsa Falls and in Ugie – Maclear’s neighbouring town – stands the fascinating Tractor Museum, whilst even further afield between Ugie and Mthatha one stumbles upon the Langeni Pass with its ancient Yellowwood forest and rugged rocky terrain.  Fairbairn is also positioned along the 8 mountain passes of the Eastern Cape Highlands route and for anyone travelling from a number of directions we are the perfect stopover en route to or from Rhodes Village or Tiffindell Ski Resort.
