Recommended Routes to Maclear and Fairbairn Guest Farm

From East-London: Route 1 (via Transkei): Butterworth, Idutywa, Mtata, Tsolo. Watch out for the Tsolo turnoff – it is not clearly marked. The turnoff is opposite a Caltex filling station ±40 km from Mtata.
From Bloemfontein: Aliwal North, Lady Grey (by-pass), Barkly-East, Elliot, Ugie. ±450 km
Route 2: Queenstown, Lady Frere, Cala, Elliot, Ugie. ±370 km.
From Durban: Port Shepstone, Harding, Kokstad, Matatiele, Mt Fletcher. ±500 km.
From Maclear to Fairbairn Guest Farm: Continue on the main road through town, towards Mt. Fletcher. Take the left slipway when reaching the church (Stone Junction Coffee Shop on left corner). Continue straight ahead, ignore the streets turning off left and then right, pass the school on right-hand side. Turn right at the Stop sign and continue for 10km. Turn left at Fairbairn Guest Farm sign boards and continue for 4km to reach the Guest Farm.
From Cape Town: N1 to Beaufort West, Aberdeen, Graaf Reinet, Middelburg, Steynsburg, Molteno, Dordrecht, Indwe, Elliot, and Ugie. ±1 300 km. The above routes are tarred all the way.
